Staying the course

Date: Wednesday, January 11th 2017
Spiritual- Long meditative Jacuzzi- listened to some good lounge music and got groovie….
Occupational : Went to FARMbloomington Restaurant to catch up with staff. Good Staff/Manager meeting. Ali finalized the forecast for the 1st quarter.
Physical
·         Cardo- Did the lake walk
·         Strength Training- not going to lie
Intellectual- read books and newspaper, watched reports on Obama’s speech. I think it rocked.
Emotional- Sad to see a favorite old tree get twisted by the wind….and snap….
Environmental- Took nature photos and posted
Social – social media stuff, listened to all the old phone messages, caught up on e-mails….kinda
Nutritional
Breakfast- classic lemon cold shower cleanse- organic lemon, evoo, turmeric root, ginger, water, ice cubes, agave
Snack
Lunch- Leftovers from Brownies Visit:  Chinese spicy eggplant, shrimp fried rice, steamed pork dumplings, Big ass salad by mom
Snack- nuts by the fireplace
Dinner- Asian turkey Burgers (waterchestnuts, chili paste, soy, cilantro) on a bed of greens
Cheats- dark chocolate with almonds and dried cranberries

Woke up feeling a little blue today. Poured a nice hot bath and listened to some of the music Christopher picked out for me when he was here. Started feeling a bit more Groovy.  Red the local rag and a couple of chapters in my books. Had the classic lemon cold shower cleanse- organic lemon, evoo, turmeric root, ginger, water, ice cubes, and agave. Did the lake walk early but I’m not going to lie….I didn’t get the strength training in. Had to go to Bton and met with the management team. Did kind of a team building meeting encouraging everyone to leave 2016 in the past and have the best year ever at FARMbloomington. Ali got the 1st quarter forecast done and I approved. We have our work cut out for us. It is all about the sales and cost controls. Events should be huge this season with our new Event manager Anna. .  I picked up some items from the cabin and spent a bit of time with the kitties. I miss them.  Cleaned out the fridge and packed up the garbage. Still have to do a load of restaurant compost.  Late lunch of Chinese spicy eggplant, shrimp fried rice, steamed pork dumplings, Big ass salad by mom. Stayed with the Chinese theme for a dinner of Asian turkey Burgers (waterchestnuts, chili paste, soy, cilantro) on a bed of greens.  Watched Obama’s farewell speech. We are going to miss him. Mom is heartbroken. Soothed our depression with some dark chocolate with dried cranberries and almonds.
Date: Tuesday January 10th 2017
Spiritual- looked up a new app to help me meditate and relax, did a half-assed attempt and got distracted. Relaxed in Jacuzzi
Occupational- Worked on typing up some new recipes. Read more information on Detox and herbal meds. Met with Dave Porter and reviewed final changes on videos. Intro to Sauteing off the pounds and two bios. Things are looking good.
Physical
·         Cardo- walked with Mom around the lake.
·         Strength Training- did prep and mise, 15 minutes of strength
Intellectual- Read more of my books, newspaper, CNN political stuff.
Emotional-  watched Obama’s farewell speech. Sad to be losing him. Mom is crushed.
Environmental- Set up a bird Sanctuary and feeding station by the kitchen window with sunflower seeds, finch feed, thistle, assorted suet cakes, etc. 
Social- FB, Twitter, etc. Walked with a neighbor Peggy.
Nutritional
Breakfast-Lemon and green tea cleanse with turmeric, ginger, evoo, ice cubes
Snack-eggs in purgatory with ½ sprouted grain muffin
Lunch- Salad of leftovers- Kitchen Sink Salad- pulled turkey from dinner, brown rice with tahini, baby radishes, mixed greens
Snack- slice of really good melon at Dave and MaryBeth’s, Dave’s good strong coffee with milk
-cracked nuts by the fireplace at Mom’s
Dinner- Bloomington Bayou Rubbed Center-cut Pork Chop for Two, Roasted Spaghetti Squash with evoo and shaved Parmesan, Pan Jus
Cheats – fruit and last of Judy’s goat cheese

I looked up a new app (OMG Learn to Meditate) to help me relax, did a half-assed attempt and got distracted. I’ve tried to learn to meditate in the past. I will try again before bed. I bought black out eye covers for sleeping and ear plugs. Made a frappe with green tea as the base with ginger, turmeric, ice cubes, evoo and a whole organic lemon; peel and all. Relaxed in Jacuzzi with a cuppa green tea with dandelion root.  Had eggs in purgatory with ½ sprouted grain muffin for a mid morning breakfast.  Did my walk around the lake with ML and Peggy. Worked on typing up some new recipes. Read more information on Detox and herbal meds. Salad of leftovers- Kitchen Sink Salad- pulled turkey from dinner, brown rice with tahini, baby radishes, mixed greens.  Met with Dave Porter and reviewed final changes on videos. Intro to Sauteing off the pounds and two bios. Things are looking good. Had a slice of really good melon at Dave and MaryBeth’s and Dave’s good strong coffee with milk. Cracked nuts by the fireplace at Mom’s. Filled the bird feeders with sunflower seeds, finch feed, thistle, assorted suet cakes, etc.  Bloomington Bayou Rubbed Center-cut Pork Chop for Two, Roasted Spaghetti Squash with evoo and shaved Parmesan, Pan Jus. Watched two episodes of “The Crown.” And had a little late cheats – fruit and last of Judy’s goat cheese.
Date: Monday, January 9th, 2017
Spiritual-Long hot Jacuzzi with a cuppa Irish tea. Used Claire’s homemade skin cream made from flowers from her garden. 
Occupational- Met with Dr. K and planned a new regime for the New Year. Making sure to journal all every day and track movement and exercise as well as the 8 points of light!
Physical
·         Cardo- was cold as F%#% but walked around the lake with Dr. K and ML. I think it made us walk faster and got our heart rates up. Even ML was practically running at the end…..LOL
·         Strength Training- Did work out the Dr. K. Did 2 sets of different movements to get me back in practice of doing them. It had been a long time, so I could feel it. Will feel it tomorrow I’m sure.
Intellectual- Worked on mytendwell with Dr. K. Made homemade kvass and kumbucha
Emotional- Talked to Dr. K about what is going on in my life, she was extremely supportive. Spoke to mom about some of my personal issues, it was good to share.
Environmental- Outdoors photography, buried compost
Social- walked with Dr. K and ML. Shared photos and stuff on FB
Nutritional
Breakfast- One of my favorite smoothies, The Chunky Monkey- keiffer yogurt, peanut butter,f rozen banana, ginger, turmeric, apple, flaxseed
Snack-Celery sticks and raw almonds
Lunch- leftover lamb chops and green cauliflower, mixed greens, Dijon Silk dressing
Snack-Cucumbers wedges, feta and walnuts
Dinner- Roast turkey dinner, homegrown potatoes, red kraut, pickled beets
Cheats – late night turkey carcass picking- ½ sprouted wheat English muffin, Japanese mayo, hot relish

Today was jam packed with activities, but it still seems like I don’t get enough done. Not enough hours in the day. Dr. K and I met and discussed goals for book and other projects as well as did a chilly walk around the lake and some strength training. We did two sets of excercises and I could feel it. I must focus and get into a pattern so the strength training becomes second nature and part of my daily routine. For some reason I resist it….Not good. It feels so good when it is over! We had Chunky Monkey Smoothies this morning for breakfast ( yogurt, nut butter, frozen banana, ginger, turmeric, flax, apple. Had a mid-morning snack of celery and string cheese. Lunch was a leftover lamb chop salad with cauliflower and Dijon Silk Dressing. Afternoon snack with baby cucumbers, walnuts and a small wedge of feta.  Cooked  a nice turkey dinner with homegrown potatoes, red cabbage kraut and pickled beets. It was delish! Had a little evening snack of turkey with ½ an English muffin, Japanese mayo and fermented hot relish. Made Kvaas and Kombucha this afternoon. I like to have it to replace my usual wine for cocktail hour and with dinner. It is so good and better that the stuff you can buy. I make it spicy with kim chi juice and other spices. I’ll share the recipe later. I’ve been keeping compost and today it was warm enough to bury it. I also worked on my photography as a relaxing hobby to help de-stress and have an artistic outlet.

Spiritual- took a hike along a stream in Brown County, walking meditation  
Occupational- Drove to Bton and picked up the manuscript that Cindy edited. Contacted MB about paying him for website work, texted FBton management about re-opening of restaurant Tuesday.  Tested a few recipes.
Physical
·         Cardo- 20-minutes on stationary bike and outside hike
·         Strength Training-……..crickets
Intellectual- Read books, newspapers, studied medicinal herbs and flowers. Got caught up on Politics
Emotional-Did some me time thinking about the future. Relationships, work, retirement plans…..
Environmental-Bought bird feeders and food to set up a nature preserve  at ML’s. Photographed nature and shared with FB friends. Gathered compost from testing recipes.
Social – spoke with a few employees that I caught on the streets in Bton. Social media on FB.
Nutritional
Breakfast- Raspberry, peach, keiffer yogurt, ginger, turmeric  smoothie
Snack- Toasted sunflower seeds and goat cheese
Snack- Prosciutto and string cheese
Dinner- Baked cod fillet, basil, tomato juice, citrus, herbs, short grained brown rice, steamed garlic spinach, olive oil, Aux Poivres seasoning.

Today seemed to get away from me. I got up early and relaxed in the Jacuzzi and read the newspaper and a few chapters in my books. Got caught up on politics and social media as well. Had a light frappe of unsweetened cranberry, frozen raspberries & peaches, ginger, turmeric, coconut water and ice cubes. Took a 30 minute walk and jumped in the truck to head to Bloomington to pick up the manuscript for the new book that Cindy Bradley had edited. Caught some of my staff wandering the streets and reconnected with them. They were enjoying their break from the restaurant. I caught up on some PR projects and other office work and contacted management about reopening of the restaurant. Grabbed some toasted sunflower seeds and Capriole goat cheese as a quick snack and headed back to the lake house. Went to Bloomington Hardware and bought some new bird feeders as well as lots of feed to set up a nature sanctuary for mom to look at out the kitchen window….OK….I like to watch the birds too! On the way I stopped and took a short hike in Brown County along a creek that I know is beautiful this time of year. Took lots of photos of icicles and winter scenes. Just Beautiful. Forgot to eat lunch, busy running around. I’m probably eating too much cheese, but I love it…..had some string cheese and prosciutto as an afternoon snack. Picked up some nice looking cod in Bton and baked it in tomato juice, basil, citrus and olive oil and served it with short grained brown rice and steamed baby spinach. Did some deep thinking and self therapy trying to put a few things together to keep me on the right path.  I meant to do some strength training today, but got caught up in other activities and it didn’t happen. Got to make this a habit!!!!
